Moving Blogs!

Moving!

I am consolidating all of my blogs into one central location and enabling my friends to post their armies and insight as well. I appreciate everyone that “Friend Connected” me at one point, and would ask that you do so on my new blog. This new location will enable me to make more posts with less editing and expand my direction as a gamer of six rather large armies.

I think we all understand how far encouragement will take us in this hobby, and I want to say thank you for your comments and feedback.

Dark Eldar: Dark Saim Hann 2.9

This is the latest update of my Dark Saim Hann style raider army and it's doing fairly well. Squeezing Vect into the list with a Ravager made a huge difference and I hope to take this to next months local tournament (if I can finish a few more models instead of supplementing Eldar stuff).

1999 Pts - Dark Saim Hann 2.9

HQ: Asdrubael Vect
(Splinter Pistol x3; Dark Lance; Disentegrator x2)

Troops: Raider Squad
Raider Squad (Blaster; Rifle x7; Splinter Cannon)
Sybarite (Poison Blades; Pistol)
Raider (Dark Lance; Nightshields)

Troops: Raider Squad

Terror Council (1HQ, 1Champ, 7Basic)
Haemonculi (Scissors; Destructor; Rifle; Drug Dispenser; Jetbike)
Succubus (Agoniser; Pistol; Rifle; Drug Dispenser; Haywire/Plasma; Jetbike)
7 Reaver Jetbikes (Pistol; Blaster x2; Rifle x4; Drugs; Jetbike)

Disorder Council (1HQ, 1Champ, 5Basic)
Haemonculi (Scissors; Destructor; Rifle; Drug Dispenser; Haywires; Jetbike)
Succubus (Agoniser; Pistol; Rifle; Drug Dispenser; Haywires/Plasmas; Jetbike)
5 Reaver Jetbikes (Pistol; Blaster x2; Rifle x4; Drugs; Jetbike)

Shadow Council (1HQ, 1Champ, 3Basic)
Haemonculi (Scissors; Destructor; Rifle; Drug Dispenser; Shadow Field; Haywires; Jetbike)
Succubus (Agoniser; Pistol; Rifle; Drug Dispenser; Haywires/Plasmas; Jetbike)
3 Jetbike Squad (Pistol; Blaster x2; Rifle x4; Drugs; Jetbike)

Heavy: Ravager
(Dark Lance x1; Disentegrator x2; Nightshields)

Total Roster Cost: 1999

The game I play is reserve/hide the raiders at all costs.
Cover saves and pop shots with Dark Lances while the bikes wreak havoc across the battle field. Vect and the Ravager dominate Terminators, MEQ, small vehicles and demand to be dealt with. I try to screen with Vect and use him to protect/tie up whatever he can. I will send him with raiders to take objectives.

The smallest council I send after vehicles while the larger two protect each other as they go for the glory. One will turbo boost to protect the other while it fires that turn and of course I hide in assault as much as possible.

I often pop the Haemonculi's off as independent characters to skilled rider through terrain to contest objectives late in the game or just to give another unit more beef in an assault that turn. They are also useful to pull troops off an objective or out of cover as everyone crowds around to beat him down, just make sure the other bikes can get in the way of the d6 consolidation move!

Weekly Wrap-Up - Inferno - 23 Aug 09

This week in The Inferno…

Vacations time has devastated the weekly meet, leaving Harry and I to our own devices for a lazy weekend.

The Dark Angels have picked up a menacing looking Venerable Dreadnought and my Eldar have added the last few Phoenix Lords to my collection.

Primping, Prodding, and Painting we prepare to head down to the local game store for some Apocalypse this upcoming Sunday.

3k - Apocalypse/Reload
Anything goes!

Weekly Wrap Up - Inferno - 9 August 09

This week in the Inferno...

Table 1 - 40K

Altansar vs Raven Wing
3.5k points,
Eldar: 2, Raven Wing: 2

VS

We decided to roll a d6 to pick one of the 6 Ard Boyz missions and ended up with Crushin' It!

Mission:
Capture and control the central objective while securing as much of the rest of the board as you can.

Some mistakes where made on both sides; the most egregious by myself who thought if I moved flat out I could still disembark and shoot. Wouldn't that make Dire Avengers and Fire Dragons better! So I apologize for this but at the same rate I missed shooting my EML at the Landraider the entire game by not realizing I could glance on a 6. I tried too many new units at the same time but still ended with a straight tie. Usually when games finish with a tie you can clearly see if another turn happened this or this might go down. We could have went two more turns and still end with a tie. 3.5k outside apoc is a redonculous amount of points and that many vehicles just sucked to play against.

Weekly Wrap Up - Inferno - 2 August 09

This week in the Inferno...

Table 1 - 40K

Dark Saim Hann vs Raven Wing
2k points, Seize Ground , Dawn of War
Dark Eldar: 1, Raven Wing: 1, Mutualy Contested: 1

VS

-Dark Eldar - 3 bike units (6 Haemonculi with Destros!), 3 Raiders, Scourges
-Raven Wing - Max Terminators, full Assault Squadron, Snipers, Predator

A String of crazy bad rolls from Raven Wing left my AV10 vehicles alive for most of the game and only one touched by the end. A series of 1's on an entire Terminator unit saving throws caused a random dice to go flying across the room. How do you roll that many 1's in a row?

This was a learning game and quite a few random things where picked up.

>Dark Eldar Haywire Grenades are not as good as the updated Eldar Haywire versions (dreads).
>The Assault Squadron does not function as a single unit.
>don't forget Combat Drugs!
>Trophy Racks and Screaming Jets are garbage

Weekly Wrap-Up – Inferno – 26 July 09

This week in the Inferno…

Tabke 1 - 40k

Dark Eldar vs Tyranids
2k points, Capture and Control, Spearhead
Dark Eldar: 1, Tyranids: 0

VS

After six months of trying to steal Josh away from square basing he finally he broke down and picked up a beautiful Tyranid army. The goods arrived on Friday and today we put his new models to the test against my attempt at a crazy Dark Saim Hann list.

The game went south very quickly when we realized that I have a ridiculously fast shooty army that is completely capable of staying out of range for 5 turns and Josh ran virtually no shooting. This and a little disagreement over Lash Whips being cumulative or not (The Tyranid FAQ clears it up) made the game a little discouraging. I hope that we see quite a bit more of these crazy bugs in the future as the Inferno rages on.

Notes/Thanks
We had a newcomer visit the Inferno today, thanks go out to Davis for stopping by to roll some Space Marine dice and kick some serious Chaos Space Marine ass. Larry made the lists so one sided that he just threw in the towel without finishing the game.

Harry threatens to give up on his Dark Angels altogether, for straight Space Marines, we shall see.

Special thanks to Josh for bringing over the large selection of exotic imported beer. Some old favorites (Tsing Tao, Sapporo) mixed in with some new Belgian nasties that where promptly dumped down the sink after I cleverly suckered everyone into taking an awful sip.

Weekly Wrap-Up - Inferno - 19 July 09

This week in The Inferno…

40k
Eldar vs Dark Angels
2,000 points, Annihilation, Pitched Battle
Eldar: 4, Dark Angels: 3

This was Harry’s first time with his Dark Angels and I wanted to mess around with Reserves and Outflanking (two things I have never actually attempted before). Both of us had miserable rolls, accomplished nothing, and learned virtually nothing.

Fantasy
Vampire Counts vs Ogre Kingdom
3,000 points
Draw

The score was very comparable, in the 1500’s for both sides until standards and table corners where figured in giving the Vampire Counts the lean to the higher side of a draw.
